What are we fundraising for?
Medical research improves lives and saves lives.
The research that SSMRF supports is truly ground-breaking. For many it is life-changing. Our research is focused on thirteen broad areas – and numerous diseases within these areas – that impact many Australians. In some cases the research work is undertaken in collaboration with local and international research teams. In no particular order, here are some of the areas where SSMRF is leading the charge for research:
- Diseases of Ageing
- Blood diseases and stem cell research
- Skin disease
- Mental Health
- Women’s Health
- Children’s Health
- Gut & Liver disease
- Bone & Joint diseases
- Immunity, Allergy & Infection
- Obesity & metabolic diseases
- Intensive Care & Emergency Medicine
- Nursing & Allied Health Research
Medical research gives our doctors access to the latest breakthroughs and allows them to practice medicine that is at the forefront of innovative care. Without research medicine stands still.
Panadol doesn’t exist, antibiotics don’t exist, knee reconstructions don’t exist. Did you know that there’s a 90% chance of recovering from bowel cancer if detected early. Without research there’s 0%. We have funded over 50 research projects to date.
We are really proud of that, but we need your help to continue. If we didn’t fund research it might not happen - we can’t do it with your help or without your supporters help.
Wouldn’t you want to know that your local hospital has the best doctors and they are treating you and your family?
